Atlas Insider: A Shoreditch Spin on Christmas

December 8, 2017

Christmas in the capital is a sight to behold: from light shows to skating rinks, London has so much to offer. True to form, Shoreditch puts its own special spin on Christmas. A nightlife hotspot, Shoreditch sparkles with winter parties. And for those of us that like things a little more low key and cosy, there are festive pop-ups and vintage fairs aplenty.

Columbia Road Flower Market, every Sunday

On Sunday's throughout the year Columbia Road is a sea of beautiful colour and smells. When December comes along the flowers are changed for Christmas trees and festive wreaths. Nothing will get you in the sprit of the season more than the scent of the trees and the spectacular reds, greens and golds of the seasonal foliage.

Shoreditch Christmas Triangle, from November

Now in its fifth year, the Shoreditch Design Triangle will be hosting their Shoreditch Christmas Triangle, which celebrates local shops, studios, galleries and cafes. Local participants will hold a programme of festive and creative events in the lead up to Christmas. You can find a full programme of events on their website.

Last Days of Shoreditch, from 30th November to 16th December

Dialling it up a notch this Noel is Last Days of Shoreditch, on Old Street, which is hosting its annual winter extravaganza. This event has the whole package: street food from Cheeky Burger, Smokey Tails, and, for vegans, Biff's Jack Shack will keep visitors well fed, whilst DJs provide the beats. And for those of us that like a bit of cheese at Christmas, there’s also a karaoke room for hire!

Christmas Lights at The Shard, from Monday 4th December

If you’re prepared to venture out a little further afield, The Shard will be turning on its Christmas lights on 4th December. The show will go on late into the month, so there’s plenty of time to catch the display. Expect swirling patterns in an array of colours, not to mention some special visual effects - The Shard never does things by halves.
