Atlas Insider: Q&A with Walied Suliman from the Atlas Sales team

July 6, 2017

What is your role at The Atlas Building?

I'm a new sales manager for residential and investment developments at JLL and also part of the sales team at The Atlas Building.

Tell us about your background working in the property industry.

I joined JLL in April 2016 from Taylor Wimpey, where I worked for more than 14 years managing sales teams across different developments – including a number of prestigious new build homes across London and the South East. I also worked on a number of schemes with JLL prior to joining The Atlas Building, primarily working on new homes launches and setting up new marketing suites to showcase to buyers.

What made you make the move to The Atlas Building?

The bespoke service offered by Rocket Properties drew me to this development. Having already sold 70% of homes, the team delivers a customised journey for buyers and a more personal end-to-end service; from a customer’s first contact with The Atlas Building, right through to finding the right home for them.

The Atlas Building itself is also extremely unique. It's one of the most sought-after developments in London, there is nothing quite like it in the area. Every day, I walk from Shoreditch Overground to The Atlas Building and I can already see the construction underway and the structure going up from a distance, despite it only being half way complete. I can only imagine how striking the building will be once finished; it will be a new landmark on London’s skyline and a destination for both Londoners and visitors. I wanted to be a part of the making of that landmark. The Atlas Building already had a strong and experienced team behind it and I'm delighted to play such a leading role in the team and the successful delivery of such a great project.

What are your favourite Atlas features?

The striking architecture. Resembling a fin, it’s a unique sculpture in itself. This unique design, in addition to its sheer size, gives the building a real presence. But it’s not all style and no substance. The architects have thought carefully about the design of each individual home. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring light and energy into the rooms, every apartment has access to outside space and functional linear floor plans ensure residents can make use of every inch of space.

What makes The Atlas Building stand out from other developments in London?

The Atlas Building is in an unparalleled location. Within Zone One and positioned at the crossroads between Clerkenwell, the City of London, Islington and Farringdon, and less than a minutes' walk from Old Street Station, residents have a host of major attractions right on their doorstep. Not to mention the transport connections which make the whole of London easily accessible.

Secondly, its desirable features and amenities, from the private screening room to the array of health and lifestyle facilities, that go above and beyond what is usually available. Residents will really look forward to coming home.

What do you love about Old Street?

The area is brimming with culture, creativity, authenticity and a true sense of community. It’s such a diverse part of London; walk five minutes in one direction and you can be at Shoreditch House or one of the City’s many fine-dining outlets. Walk the opposite way and you’ll stumble upon a cluster of pop-up stalls serving food from across the globe.

One of the first places I visited in this area was Columbia Road Flower Market and I was taken by the amazing colours, aromas, and quirky artisan feel. It really is a vibrant and fun area to be.

What do you consider to be the most important room in a home, and why?

Nowadays, I consider the living area to be the heart of the home. We cook less due to our busy schedules, but we love to socialise, and enjoy the finer things in life. Evening and weekends are spent with friends and family and apartments at The Atlas Building provide the ideal place for entertaining. Our open-plan living areas provide plenty of space which can be extended onto terraces, with bi-folding doors inviting the outside into the home. The well-equipped kitchens have been designed to be part of the entertaining space, so you're not cut-off from the rest of the party.
