The Atlas Insider: festive pop-ups in Shoreditch

December 12, 2016

The festive season is upon us and Shoreditch is abuzz with twinkling lights, market stalls and plenty of mulled wine. Don your winter woollies and head to one of the East End’s Christmas pop-ups to soak up some yuletide cheer.

Cinema in the Snow

Snowfall is rare in the city, but step through the doors of Pop Up Screens’ Cinema in the Snow in Hackney, and you’ll be transported into winter wonderland. Until 18 December, you can watch a line-up of classic Christmas movies, from Elf and The Grinch, to Home Alone and Love Actually. And this cinema experience is taken up a gear with luxurious hot chocolate, warming mulled wine, homemade brownies and, of course, popcorn, courtesy of Drum and Kernel.

The Nordic Yulefest

We have embraced Nordic culture in 2016, most recently with the art of hygge taking over our homes, wardrobes and kitchens. Now, in the heart of Shoreditch, immerse yourself in the captivating world of Scandinavian food, drink and festivities at The Nordic Yulefest on Old Street. Enjoy free-flowing mulled wine, creative cocktails and a smorgasbord of festive nibbles by candlelight, while spinning the Wheel of Fortune or taking some snaps with a grizzly bear in the photo booth. It’s the ultimate Christmas party.
