The Atlas Insider: Celebrating our capital’s capacity for creativity at the 2016 London Design Festival
September 20, 2016The London Design Festival - running from the 17-25 September 2016 - is an annual event celebrating London as the design capital of the world. First conceived by Sir John Sorrell and Ben Evans, the Festival promotes the city's creativity with a cornucopia of events and exhibitions intended to astound and inspire.
In conjunction with hundreds of partner organisation, the Festival is hosting over 400 events – some of which are right on our doorstep! Shoreditch is where numerous interiors brands hang their hats, so The Atlas Building is no stranger to design. But the London Design Festival is an opportunity to explore design to the max. To ensure you get the most out of the Festival days that follow, we’ve highlighted some of the top things to see and do in East London.
MINI LIVING Forests, Shoreditch
One of many so-called Landmark Projects, the Mini Living Forests Installations, by designer Asif Khan, are scattered around Shoreditch’s busy streets. The three architectural installations each have different interior landscapes and plant life. These literal green rooms offer visitors a chance to relax and switch-off; but moreover, each installation is geared towards slightly different activities – be it work, conversation or seclusion.
The Forests will themselves be venues for specific events across the Festival but in the meantime, these urban woodlands are the perfect place to immerse yourself in truly magical design.
Design Tours, Kings Cross

Ready Made Go 2 at the Ace Hotel, Shoreditch
Curated by Modern Design Review, Ready Made Go 2 sees a series of products specially commissioned from London-based European designers.
